 COACHING SERVICES

THE APPROACH

Audiobook narration is primarily a storytelling genre and good storytelling requires skilled and honest acting. The goal of Shannon’s coaching process is to facilitate the narrator’s success in discovering their own personal essence and voice; finding and conveying the truth of the author’s voice; and discovering and communicating character. The work creates a consistent approach and process to the art of audiobook narration

THE PROCESS

·      Narrators will work with Shannon either by phone or Skype in 50-minute sessions that are tailor made to fit the individual strengths and challenges of each student.

·      Shannon will work with narrators to strengthen and expand their approach to character development, storytelling, vocal flexibility and range, diction, and technique, using methods drawn from her own experience as a teacher, director, and narrator, as well as tried and true acting processes from Meisner, Stanislavsky, and Grotowski. Narrators may choose a structured syllabus that begins with the acting process, character development and vocal technique and moves to narration in specific genres (in which narrators have the opportunity to build their repertoire of sample/demos in a variety of genres with in-studio direction from Shannon. The process is designed to be flexible so that narrators may pick and choose their areas of study according to their own goals and needs, if desired.

·      Shannon’s approach is designed for both aspiring and more experienced narrators who want to polish up their acting skills.
